Fencing World Championships 1983 original foil

Fencing World Championships 1983 original foil - Original competition foil of Matthias Behr (GER) with which he presumably won the foil team title at the 1983 World Fencing Championships in Vienna. Metal, handle inside with padded red leather and manufacturer's imprint "Uhlmann Fechtgeräte" and handwritten inscription by Behr "KM.G.M-V.. + FC TBB 1983". With complete electronic installations. Length: approx. 105.5 cm. On the handplate original signature of Matthias Behr with black felt-tip pen. Handle marked by Matthias Behr with blue tape. In addition, foil tip wrapped by Matthias Behr with grey tape to approx. 23 cm. Blade slightly rusty; competition marks. Matthias Behr gave this epee to a high-ranking German politician after the 1983 World Fencing Championships in Hamburg. The epee comes directly from the estate of this politician! Unfortunately, we could not find a photo showing Behr with a foil during the 1983 World Championships. Matthias Behr won 1x gold, 3x silver at the Olympic Games and is a 3-time fencing world champion. During the 1982 World Fencing Championships in Rome there was a fatal accident: Behr's blade broke and fatally injured the then most successful fencer and reigning World Champion Vladimir Smirnov in the head. This probably explains the unusual taping on the foil tip that Behr made on this offered foil in 1983! Condition: A-
